Obama/Biden Ticket

CHICAGO, Illinois (CNN) — Sen. Barack Obama has selected Delaware Sen. Joe Biden as his running mate, according to his official Web site and a text message the campaign sent to supporters on Saturday.

Biden, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, brings years of experience that could help counter GOP arguments that an Obama administration would be inexperienced on foreign policy.

So we have an Obama/Biden ticket now. Do you think this was the right choice for Barack? Btw, check out Obamas’ semi waves.

Pop superstar Rihanna, whose music and touring generate millions in revenue, is only worth $20,000, according to reports. The young singer recently fired her business manager Patricia Williams after discovering the paltry amount.

Williams, however, is shirking responsibility and claims Rihanna’s label Def Jam and manager Marc Jordan are to blame for the singer’s financial woes.

“It’s not my fault that she only has $20,000 to her name,” Williams tells Blackarazzi.com. “I’m a professional Business Manager, I have a staff of more than a dozen, I have worked for many high-profile actors, musicians and multi-million dollar corporations. Why would I steal from Rihanna? I showed her all the paperwork and tried to explain to her the circumstances but she wouldn’t listen.

“She called me all sorts of horrible names and stormed off. I now feel compelled to share with the world the background story as I will not allow my name to be slandered.”

According to Williams, Def Jam has underfunded Rihanna, despite huge sales of her breakthrough single Umbrella and her third album Good Girl Gone Bad.

“Def Jam doesn’t fund Rihanna properly, so Marc uses the money Rihanna makes from third-party endorsements and from tours to fund her album and music videos,” Williams claims. “I don’t want to disrespect Marc’s name. He is a fantastic manager and genuinely believes in Rihanna.

“But he uses her money to fund her future projects because he believes he can break her in the world market.”

Williams continues to shift focus to the popstar’s manager and says Rihanna’s sales are not as good as some might think.

What’s up with all these “rich” people being supposedly broke? I find it hard to believe. Oh well, I’m sure she has credit for days. I wouldn’t mind having 20k in the bank right now.

(CNN)  — More than 200,000 children were spanked or paddled in U.S. schools during the past school year, human rights groups reported Wednesday.

The punishment is disproportionately applied to black students, according to the organizations. During the 2006-07 school year, for instance, black students made up 17.1 percent of the nationwide student population but 35.6 percent of those paddled at schools.

Black girls were paddled at twice the rate of their white counterparts in the 13 states using corporal punishment most frequently. And although boys are punished more often than girls, the report found that African-American students in general are 1.4 times more likely to receive corporal punishment.

Disturbing. Should schools anywhere even be allowed to hit kids?

Sad stuff, yet another influential black person gone all the sudden.
