The Government Apologizes For Slavery???
Published by IllPhill July 31st, 2008 in anythingBlackOn Tuesday, the House of Representatives issued a formal apology directly to Black Americans for both Slavery and Jim Crow Area Laws. The Apology was issued by Rep. Steve Cohen, a Tennessee Democrat witht he support of about 120 other members of the house. This apology was of major significance because it was the first time that the government acknowledged the evils of not just slavery but also Jim Crow error laws. You can check out a full transcript of the apology here. Pretty interesting if you ask me.
So now the big question turns to reparations…
While the apology makes no mention of reparations, the act has re-ignighted the discussion in a lot of circles. What do you think? 40 acres and a mule? Should the Government start playing out to blacks for slavery?

If us black dudes are getting reparations, that’s cool. I want 40 acres and a Spike Lee DVD box set, plus the 3m30s I wasted yesterday watching the “Marco Polo” video.
Word. I want a lump sum. I need a lambo.
